Kebaya adalah blus tradisional yang dikenakan oleh wanita Indonesia dan Malaysia yang terbuat dari bahan tipis yang dikenakan dengan sarung, batik, atau pakaian rajutan tradisional lainnya seperti songket dengan motif warna-warni.

Dipercaya kebaya berasal dari Tiongkok[rujukan?] ratusan tahun yang lalu. Lalu menyebar ke Malaka, Jawa, Bali, Sumatera, dan Sulawesi. Setelah akulturasi yang berlangsung ratusan tahun, pakaian itu diterima di budaya dan norma setempat.

Sebelum 1600, di Pulau Jawa, kebaya adalah pakaian yang hanya dikenakan keluarga kerajaan di sana. Selama masa kendali Belanda di pulau itu, wanita-wanita Eropa mulai mengenakan kebaya sebagai pakaian resmi. Selama masa ini, kebaya diubah dari hanya menggunakan barang tenunan mori menggunakan sutera dengan sulaman warna-warni.

Pakaian yang mirip yang disebut "nyonya kebaya" diciptakan pertama kali oleh orang-orang Peranakan dari Melaka. Mereka mengenakannya dengan sarung dan kaus cantik bermanik-manik yang disebut "kasut manek". Kini, nyonya kebaya sedang mengalami pembaharuan, dan juga terkenal di antara wanita non-Asia.

Terpisah dari kebaya tradisional, perancang mode sedang mencari cara memodifikasi desain dan membuat kebaya menjadi pakaian yang lebih modern. Kebaya yang dimodifikasi itu malah bisa dikenakan dengan jins atau rok.

Kebaya is the traditional blouse that was put on by the Indonesian woman and Malaysia who were made from the thin material that was put on with the sarong, batik, or the net traditional clothes other like songket with the motive of colors.

Bali Fashion Week Busana Ramah Lingkungan Ala Fabio Renaldo

Satu lagi perancang Indonesia yang menampilkan rancangan yang bertema ramah lingkungan. Fabio Renaldo dapat membuktikan bahwa feysen dapat menjadi item yang ramah lingkungan.

Fabio Renaldo adalah perancang produk atau apapun yang ramah lingkungan. Dan saat ini dia mulai menciptakan pakaian yang ramah lingkungan.

Rancangan yang dibuat oleh Fabio seluruhnya dibuat dengan cara ditenun dengan tangan atau handmade dan terbuat dari serat yang alami. Teknik pewarnaannya pun alami, dan tidak memakai bahan pewarna kimia sama sekali.

Walau sekilas warna-warna natural dalam rancangan Fabio tampak biasa namun untuk mengubah warna-warna tersebut diperlukan waktu kurang lebih 6 bulan.
Terlihat pula detil-detil payet pada rancangannya dan payet tersebut terbuat dari Printed Circuit Board (PCB) bekas. Detil-detil yang digunakan dalan busana rancangan desainer asal Bandung itu pun terbuat dari limbah potensial.

Dalam menciptakan seluruh rancangannya, Fabio menerapkan sistem zero waste, jadi tidak ada sisa-sisa dari pembuatan busananya yang menjadi sampah. Semuanya bisa dimanfaatkan lagi menjadi sesuatu yang bermanfaat

The plan that was made by Fabio was completely made by means of being woven with the hands or handmade and was made from natural fibre. The technique of the coloring it was natural, and did not use chemical coloring matters completely.

Although the natural colors in the Fabio plan appeared not to luxury but to change these colors was needed by time approximately 6 months.
Seen also by beads details in his plan and this beads was made from Printed Circuit Board (PCB) second-hand. Details that were used were made from the potential waste.

In creating all of his plan, Fabio applied the system zero waste, so did not have the remnants from the production of his fashion that became the waste. All of them could be made use of still became something that was useful

Bali Fashion Week 11 Desainer Dalam Satu Runway

Dalam ajang fashion paling terbesar di negeri ini, Bali Fashion Week menampilkan 11 desainer ternama baik dari dalam negeri maupun dari luar negeri. Seperti Mardiana Ika, Elizabeth Njo may Fen, Yuko Moko, Ian Suhadi, Junie Kwanda, Lenny Agustin, Denny Cho serta Fabio renaldo. Sebagian besar menampilkan koleksi yang masih bertema summer dengan warna-warna yang ceria, serta koleksi beach wear yang sesuai dengan Bali.
Namun ada juga beberapa koleksi maxi dress dan gaun malam. Beberapa koleksi milik desainer Ika Mardiana, Yuko Moko serta Fabio Renaldo cukup menarik perhatian

Masing-masing perancang memamerkan 8-12 koleksi terbaik mereka dalam peragaan busana yang berlangsung selama 2 jam tersebut.

Andre Kim desainer asal Korea ikut memamerkan rancangannya dalam Bali Fashion Week. Pria kelahiran Goyang Korea 55 tahun yang lalu itu adalah desainer pembuka dalam ajang Bali Fashion Week 2008.

Ia pun menampilkan busana khas dinasti Korea, mulai dari pakaian sehari-hari, hingga gaun malam yang mewah.
Budaya dinasti Korea dan Bali menjadi inspirasi rancangan Andre Kim untuk menciptakan gaun-gaunnya yang mewah dengan berbagai warna. Untuk menyempurnakan rancangannya, ia meminta pelukis Bali untuk membuat sebuah lukisan. kemudian lukisan itu ia print pada bahan, yang kemudian dijadikannya gaun malam yang cantik

Selain pakaian sehari-hari dan gaun yang mewah, Andre Kim juga membuat rancangan gaun pengantin. Andre terinspirasi dari perasaan cinta sepanjang masa sehingga terciptalah gaun pengantin yang mewah tersebut.

Andre Kim the designer from Korea took part in exhibiting his plan in Balinese Fashion Week. The man who was born in Goyang-Korean 55 years ago that was the designer of the opener in the site Balinese Fashion Week 2008.

He then put forward the typical fashion the Korean dynasty, from everyday clothes, to the luxurious night gown.
The Korean dynasty culture and Bali became the plan inspiration of Andre Kim to create his gowns that were luxurious with various colors. To complete his plan, he asked the Balinese painter to make a painting then the painting he print to the material, that afterward was made the pretty night gown by him.

Not just an everyday clothes and the luxurious gown, Andre Kim also made the Bride and Groom gown. Andre get the inspirations from the feeling forever of love, so was created the luxurious Bride and Groom gown.

Acara yang berlangsung di Garuda Wisnu Kencana ini secara resmi telah dibuka pada hari Senin 25 Agustus 2008 oleh Drs. Suryadarma Ali, Menteri Koperasi dan UKM dan akan ditutup pada hari Jumat 29 Agustus 2008.

Dalam ajang BFW ini diikuti oleh sejumlah perancang ternama lokal juga mancanegara.
Menteri Koperasi dan UKM, Drs Suryadarma Ali juga berharap, lewat ajang BFW ini, dapat meningkatkan industri lokal Indonesia termasuk UKMnya. Sedangkan ketua panitia Bali Fashion Week, Ika Mardiana dari Moda Bali Foundation berharap ajang ini dapat menjadi pintu gerbang bagi turis mancanegara untuk Dapat mengenal serta menghargai budaya Indonesia

Tak hanya fesyen yang ditawarkan dalam ajang ini, namun juga budaya bali yang eksotis. Ajang fesyen yang telah berlangsung selama delapan tahun itu juga mengedepankan sisi budaya Bali yang eksotis dan menjadi daya tarik bagi Turis lokal dan mancanegara.

10 Rules of a Good Taste

1. Less, but better

There’s no point in cramming your closet with garments that do not want to accord with each other. Give your preference to the pieces that you can easily combine instead. We do not mean that you should wear two-piece outfits only (though they are obligatory in any woman’s wardrobe), but buying jeans, for instance, opt for tops, pullovers and blouses you can wear with them. And then, beginning with these combinations, choose shoes, bags and accessories. Never neglect to work up your outfits. Never let your outfit cry, ‘This shouldn't be allowed to leave the house.’ Let your wardrobe have few but right clothes!

2. Quality

However strong you might yearn for that, the words ‘cheap’ and ‘good’ very rarely stand together. Anyway have in mind that cheap clothes will make you look cheap. No matter what you want to save on, be it gloves or shoes, it will not save the general gloomy picture. It is better to have few things of high quality than the army of those with the label ‘Made in China' (if it’s not at least ‘Produced in PRC’). A good thing, that cannot be cheap by definition, will last longer and bring you much more satisfaction than a cheap analogue. And remember that simple accessories and fake fur will do for young girls only as freshness is their best advantage and decoration. Sophisticated ladies should aim at everything natural and of high quality.

3. Every little helps

Don’t believe that blindly. It can spoil everything. If you still can’t resist the lure to make some bargains at a flee market, team up all the pieces into the real team. It means, don’t combine cheap Chinese stuff with expensive stylish clothes. Prada pants will lose their look in the combination with a cheap top. Still the variations with prices are possible. As top stylists state, the woman should not save on shoes, underwear and make-up. One of your garments could be a bit cheaper, but only a bit. A striking difference will become attention grabbing, not eye-catching.

4. Don’t pin your faith on fashion

The fashion dictates its rule in a strict way, at times being even severe. Fortunately we’ve learnt some lessons in the beginning of the third millennium. However, it is still a great mystery why some people accent their weak points by wearing so-called ‘fashion’ clothes. Don’t follow the fashion blindly. Every season the catwalks generate so many ideas that every trend can be adjusted to your own interests and needs.

5. Tastes differ

Wild color combination is the first hint of a bad taste. That’s why one should choose color combinations very carefully. To avoid this task many people prefer black and gray clothes at times adding some hot hues. However, this method has a lot of drawbacks. Dark shadows can make you look a shade. The hottest color can be absolutely unflattering. Numerous women’s magazines can give some useful tips on how to choose the right colors. The easiest way is to define which type you belong to – winter, spring, summer or autumn.

6. The things we don’t see but notice.

It is underwear that makes a woman look and feel feminine. Neglecting this part of our wardrobe is totally unforgivable. Coco Chanel’s followers know for sure that the quality of our lingerie has its magical reflection in our eyes. If you have lace camisole and stockings with a suspender-belt underneath, then even the most official of your business suits gets a translucent aura of sexiness. Indulge yourself with a couple of expensive lingerie sets. Even if you save them for some special occasions, their very presence in your wardrobe will heat your soul up.

7. The highlight

Women have soft spots in their hearts to shoes. Good shoes mean comfort and beauty. Shoes give the finishing touch to your image and act as the decor element. With their help we can hide the lack of the height, lengthen the legs and even shock people. The shoes of high quality are worn longer, look much better and don’t hurt our feet. Isn’t that enough to buy only reputable manufacturers’ shoes?

8. A bit of exquisiteness

Despite its subtle character a perfume isn’t an object of luxury. It's a product of the first necessity for everybody. People can be subdivided into 2 types in their attitude to the perfumes – those who are devoted to the particular fragrance throughout the life and those who opt for the experiments and changes. But living without this beauty product at all is unthinkable.

Refuse imitations at once, every woman should have at least a little bottle of the authentic perfume and take it for granted that luxurious scents are for luxurious women. The crucially important thing is to choose the perfume correctly.

Perfumes differ in the composition: bitter, sweet, floral, cold and fresh ones. Besides, they can be for the day use and for the evening, light and hard, for the young and mature persons. All these should be taken into account when you are choosing the fragrance for yourself. It should be in harmony with you but not exist separately. If you are a small red-haired smiling person quit the idea of having anything of Christian Dior or a bitter signature of ‘Paloma Picasso’. If you are a dark-haired femme fatale, refuse warm tones of ‘Organza’ or a sweet fragrance of‘Opium’. And have measure. Too strong aroma is a gas attack, not a fragrance.

9. The correspondence principle

The first question is,‘Where are you going to go?’ and only then goes, ‘What are you going to wear?’ The lack of the correspondence makes you vulnerable. If you decide to wear an evening gown and deadly high heels for an open-aired party, be ready to encounter sympathetic glances and numb doubts about your mental health instead of admiration. However, this tip is a bit one-sided. Beggars and billionaires can indulge every possible outfit they opt for. People around take it as a necessity, or as eccentricity and originality.

10. In harmony with yourself

Only a woman can notice all the details of your outfit. Most men are guided by the subjective ‘like - don’t like’ than by the design of your ultra-stylish shoes. It happens that you are dressed perfectly from head to toes and he stares at that nightmare wearing horrific polka dots. Don’t put all the blame on man’s bad taste. Polka dots may be in accordance with their owner and that accounts for the striking effect.

World famous labels cannot promise success. It is much more important that your outfit suits you, regardless of the label. Clothes should be in harmony with your character, mood, season of the year, surrounding and social status. Only on this condition clothes can make you even more exciting, beautiful and unique.

You can always count on them: the fashion rules that appear in every magazine, newspaper, Web site and store window. They used to be seasonal; now they’re constant. Fashion mavens and style gurus are ever at the ready, telling women what to wear and what not to wear, what looks good and what doesn’t. Yet even the most cherished rules are arbitrary. So what the heck— I can get in on the act, too.

1. A Black Dress Is NOT The Backbone Of Every Woman’s Wardrobe. I am sick and tired of being told that black looks good on everyone. There is, in fact, no such thing as a color that looks good on everyone. Colors that look good on you depend on your complexion, hair color, facial characteristics and age. I have dark hair, dark eyes, dark skin and dark circles. Black has never looked particularly good on me, though I could get away with it in my 20s and 30s, especially with bright lipstick and the black off my face, as in a portrait collar or strapless neckline. But now I’m 50, and in black I look like a wan anemic in widow’s weeds. If you’re a blonde or a redhead, you probably look stunning in black. You can also carry off bronze, taupe, caramel and other colors that are blah on me, which brings us to No. 2.

2. Do NOT Keep It Neutral And Monochromatic. Wearing the same color from head to toe supposedly creates the illusion of one long line, with no individual features standing out. The neutrals that are relentlessly recommended are black, camel, khaki and brown. Every color on this list makes me look like a dead fish or, as my mother would put it, “death warmed over”— and I know I’m not alone. Why should women want to minimize individual features anyway? Why is blending into the woodwork desirable?

3. Don’t Dress Like Audrey. As in Hepburn. The exhortation to “dress like Audrey” comes from so many sources and gets trotted out so many times I’ve lost count. We can’t all dress like Audrey because we’re not all built like Audrey. The gorgeous gamine look worked on her lithe little ballerina body. It doesn’t work on most women. And how about those other Audrey features— cigarette pants, ballet flats? If you have no hips and no rump and legs like twigs, then, yes, those clothes will work for you. But on most women, cigarette pants are best relegated to the fate of their namesake, and ballet flats make one’s legs look like tree stumps.

4. Banish Tab-Front Pants. Oh, the horror! Designers and retailers have been shoving these down our throats for at least the past five seasons and I have had it. Women’s bodies are not made for tab-front, fly-front pants. A tab-front doesn’t lay flat. It adds girth. It sticks out as much as a half-inch. Do you need an extra half-inch tacked onto your stomach? Unless you’re trying to cross-dress or have the abs of an Olympic gymnast, you should not be in tab-front pants. Side-zip, flat-front pants are the way to go.

5. Give Up The Gargantuan Grab Bags. Stop the madness! What are you carrying in there? Are you an emergency room physician? An astronaut, ready for the next space mission? Or maybe you’re going on “Let’s Make a Deal.” It’s not possible that your daily accouterments require so much room. Lemme guess— you have a liter of water in there since in the parched deserts of 21st-century civilization you never know where the next water fountain or faucet will be. Better yet, you’re trying to cover up one of those “individual features” mentioned in No. 2 and the monochrome outfit didn’t quite do it.

6. Go Easy On Ethnic Dress. Dressing in a bright little folkloric vest from Provence will not make you look like you’ve just been to the most beautiful region of France. Instead, it will make you look like you don’t know the difference between clothes and costumes. My ancestors came from regions around Rome, but I don’t go around in white puff blouses with black dirndl skirts and bright ribbons in my hair. 7. A Size By The Same Number Is Not The Same. Ladies, quit telling me that “Marilyn wore a size 12.” A size 12 in Marilyn’s day is equivalent to a size 4 or 6 today. Marilyn Monroe was stacked, but for most of her career she was also slender. Her shape was more akin to Madonna’s than to Anna Nicole Smith’s. Not only is vanity sizing rampant nowadays, but the average woman’s body has changed since the 1950s. We’re taller, have broader shoulders, bigger busts, bigger everything. If believing Marilyn wore a 12 makes you feel better, have at it. But it’s not the same 12.

8. Dress Your Age. OK, now, that doesn’t mean dressing like a frump if you’re over 40. It also doesn’t mean dressing like you’re 16. Don’t make yourself look like the train wreck that is Mariah Carey. Or adopt the frightening California-girl stylings of Goldie Hawn. That worked when she was playing the ditzy party girl on “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In” but it doesn’t anymore. And I do hope we don’t have to go into the bare-midriff thing. If I see one more bare belly sticking out over low-slung pants— on a woman of any age— I’ll run screaming into the hills. It’s not sexy, gals; it’s tacky. At best, it belongs on the beach, not on a city street. As for those babydoll dresses, spare me. I’m all for flirty and feminine, and I rejoice that dresses are finally back in stores, but if you’re a grown-up, wear grown-up clothes. You can’t complain about the media’s obsession with youth and then go around trying to look like Barbie. I take that back— even Barbie had more sophistication. After all, Oleg Cassini designed some of her clothes.

9. Long Skirts Are For Everyone. So many of my petite girlfriends won’t wear long skirts because they’re afraid of looking shorter. But long skirts sway gracefully and confer a lovely fluid line. They give the illusion of length, no matter your height. On the contrary, several shorter pieces— top, jacket, skirt— can chop you up visually and give the illusion of shortness. (Then again, maybe the schoolgirl look is what you’re going for; if so, see No. 8.)

10. Beware The Ann Taylor Uniform. I’m not dissing Ann Taylor (though they do peddle the unspeakable tab-front pants), but there’s a dullness and uniformity to their clothing. I’ll never forget looking around a Washington, D.C., restaurant one day a few years ago and seeing every woman in the place, including me, in the same black pantsuit (though at least I had on a bright blouse). The lack of imagination was positively depressing. If you can’t express yourself through your clothing, then what’s the point? You may as well go around in pajamas. Oops. That’s right. Some people do. Juicy Couture, anyone?

Cara Membersihkan Cashmere atau Bahan Rajut Lainnya (How to cleaned the Chasmere and the net)

Membersihkan dan merawat cashmere maupun bahan rajut lainnya, sebetulnya cukup mudah. Kebanyakan dari kita apabila berhubungan dengan kedua bahan tersebut, pasti akan memilih untuk mencuci dan menyerahkan masalah perawatannya ke laundry terdekat, entah dengan cara dry cleaning atau pencucian biasa.

Cara tersebut tidak salah, namun apabila ingin, kita sebetulnya juga bisa mencuci cashmere dan bahan rajut lainnya dengan tangan. Saya sudah mencoba mencuci beret cashmere saya dengan tangan, dan hasilnya tetap bagus, bersih, tidak berubah bentuk, dan tetap lembut, bahkan harum. :)

Caranya:

Tuang air dingin atau hangat (jangan terlalu panas!) ke dalam wadah, kemudian masukan bahan yang ingin dicuci.
Tuangkan deterjen untuk bahan halus atau bahan rajut, yg lembut. Apabila tidak ada, gunakan sabun baby.
Kucek perlahan dengan lembut. Jangan dipelintir atau diperas terlalu keras karena dapat mengubah struktur bahan.
Bilas, kemudian tekan - tekan secara perlahan agar air yang terserap dapat keluar.
Letakkan alas handuk kering, kemudian letakkan bahan anda di atasnya.
Gulung handuk seperti membuat roll dengan bahan di bagian dalam, kemudian tekan - tekan agar menyerap hingga bahan sedikit kering.
Ulang beberapa kali sampai anda rasa cukup kering.
Jemur di tempat teduh, dengan cara diletakkan di bidang datar. Jangan digantung ataupun dilipat dua, karena dapat mulur. Jangan dijemur di tempat panas terik karena dapat merusak bahan.
Setelah kering, simpan dengan cara dilipat. Sedapat mungkin hindari penggantungan.
Perhatikan label sebelum mencuci, karena ada beberapa bahan yg memang hanya bisa di dry clean.

I have tried to wash the beret cashmere with the hands, and results stayed good, clean, did not change the strusture of the material, and stayed soft, in fact fragrant.

Method are:

Pour cold or warm water (don't be too hot! ) in the basket, then put in the material in to the basket to be washed.
Pour detergent for the soft material or the net material. If being not available, used soap baby.
Was the material very slowly. Don't was twisted or blackmailed too hard because of could change the structure of the material.
Rinsed the material, then pressed it slowly so the water could go out.
Place the dry towel, then placed your material above.
Roll the towel like made roll with the material in the towel, afterwards pressed it so that absorbed until the material was dry.
Repeated several times until you the feeling was dry enough.
Put in the sun to dry in the calm place, by means of being placed in the flat field. Don't was hung or was folded two, because of could be elastic. Don't was put in the sun to dry in the place of intense heat because of could damage the material.
After dry, kept by means of being folded. As well as possible avoided the hanging.
Pay attention to the label before washed, because of having several materials are indeed only could in dry clean.
